ELSTONS was founded in 1969 by Mr Keith Elston, a sole trader, in a garage alongside his family home in Wigan. At this time, the business was the fitting of towing brackets to the public and vehicle dealers. ELSTONS was and still is, a family business. Keith's wife, Elizabeth Patricia and their 4 sons, have spent time working in the business over it's 39 year history. Due to the increased involvement of the family the company went from sole trader status (K. Elston) to a partnership (K & EP Elston then K & EP Elston + sons respectively.)

The fitting of towbars evolved into trailer repairing and manufacturing. During the late 80s and 90s the customer base grew to a national level with specialist trailer manufacture and the introduction of the ELSTONS HOT BOX (tarmacadam storage.) It was in these innovative years that knowledge was accumulated regarding specialist suspension, trailer and towing knowledge coupled with power and heating knowledge relating to hot boxes.

In 1990 the company became incorporated and began operating under the name Wigan Trailer Centre Limited (WTC). The business moved to various different commercial premises before ending at the existing site in Wigan in 1991.
In 1991, the ELSTONS brand developed a logo, The ELSTON RHINO!
This image of strength and power was stuck to all ELSTON products. The ELSTON RHINO complimented ELSTON products well and proved very popular with customers. As the logo suggests ELSTON products are solid, robust and designed to last.
Initially, the company's first attempts at welfare cabins were originally in the early 90s with hydraulic version used as tool stores culminating in the pneumatic patent in 2004. Once marketed, the original ‘P’ range became an instant success due to its simple push button operation and diesel generator. Further variants included the evolution of solar battery and fuel cell models that are available today. Due to the high demand for ELSTON welfare products ELSTONS decided to sell its towing bracket, trailer manufacture and hot box business. Previous bespoke activity gave ELSTONS a great deal of knowledge streamlined into a popular design that can be produced on a production line as it is today.
The 430 design has been adapted as a platform for all models of cabin with a variety of power module and suspension options. ELSTONS vast history and experience has been utilised to provide the optimum cabin with various options to suit an individual customer's needs.
